VN22 student Chen, Hsiang Yu is a natural giver with a strong desire to grow, learn, and help others. He began his academic journey as a Molecular Biology and Human Genetics major, drawn by his interest in science and the human body. While the program provided a solid foundation, he soon realized it did not fully align with his long-term goals. Growing up, Hsiang was deeply influenced by his mother, who works in the nursing field. Her compassion and dedication inspired him to pursue a career that combines medical knowledge with meaningful human connection. He was also motivated by the strong demand for nurses in the U.S., offering stability, competitive pay, and long-term career growth. By enrolling in the Vocational Nursing (VN) program, Hsiang is developing hands-on clinical skills and preparing to become a nurse who can care for both his family and patients with professionalism and compassion.
Jennifer Solano, RN, BSN, is a proud graduate of the Vocational Nursing Program, Cohort 7, at Angeles College – City of Industry Campus. Years after completing the program that launched her nursing career, she has returned—not as a student, but as an RN with a BSN—now teaching theory classes and inspiring future LVNs. Ms. Solano’s nursing journey reflects dedication and perseverance. She began as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), advanced to Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), and ultimately achieved her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) through hard work and a passion for patient care. Having once trained in the same classrooms and Skills Lab, Ms. Solano understands the challenges of the VN program firsthand. Today, she gives back by sharing her real-world clinical experience, helping students bridge the gap between theory and practice. As a student, she valued Angeles College’s supportive learning environment, professional instructors, and dedicated staff. The strong education and high pass rates left a lasting impression, leading her to return as both an instructor and mentor. Ms. Solano’s journey reflects the mission of Angeles College—to empower students to grow, succeed, and give back to the healthcare community.
